The aging clay stormwater pipe running under Boyd Street will be replaced after City Council approved a $1.4 million contract with SAC Services Inc.
The project aims to replace deteriorating water pipes along Boyd Street, ensuring reliable water service and minimizing risks of leaks or breaks in the future. In addition to bonds, the contract approval includes a resolution granting tax-exempt status for the project.
According to city staff, in November 2023, a citizen complaint revealed a detached stormwater line beneath Boyd Street that was causing the road to sink.
Repairs were completed in January 2024, but further inspections revealed the need for a full replacement of the aging 20-inch clay pipe installed in 3-foot sections.
