WASHINGTON (TND) — The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Tuesday announced a new mandate aimed at preventing deaths on U.S. roadways.
The mandate will require all new vehicles built after 2029 to come equipped with “automatic emergency braking” (AEB). NHTSA laid out its case for the measure in a hefty 300+ page filing.
