Congress faces increasing pressure to strike a deal on a fiscal 2022 omnibus spending package for federal agencies that would free up billions of dollars for new infrastructure projects that are currently on hold. “One connection between infrastructure and the omnibus is that some of the money in the infrastructure bill cannot be freed up until we pass the omnibus bill,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told reporters last week. She added that she was “hoping to reach a deal on topline spending very soon.”
