OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma bill that would name a highway after former President Donald Trump is now headed to Gov. Kevin Stitt’s desk.
The state House of Representatives voted Tuesday to pass Senate Bill 624. It would name a section of a highway in the Panhandle – 287 from Boise City to Texas – “Donald J. Trump Highway.” It would also direct the Department of Transportation to place suitable permanent markers bearing the name on the highway.
The revised version of SB 624 addresses memorial bridge and highway designations in Oklahoma. It would remove the requirement that people must be deceased for three years before getting a highway named after them so that a highway in the Oklahoma panhandle can be named after Trump.
