Local, state and federal representatives on Monday gathered in Moore, Oklahoma, to mark the start of a $30 million project to build a new BNSF Railway Co. bridge project over State Highway 37 and Southeast 4th Street.
The long-anticipated project and landmark initiative is designed to improve safety and mobility in the region, Oklahoma Department of Transportation officials said in a press release.
The project calls for building new BNSF bridge over SH-37/S.E. 4th Street, in which the highway will be lowered to create an underpass to separate the railroad from the highway. When completed, the grade separation will reduce the risk of accidents and enhance traffic movement, addressing long-standing congestion issues. About 36 trains pass through the area daily, according to ODOT officials.
