The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a $1.6 million construction contract Tuesday to replace the bridge on Union Hill Road over Canton Creek. Commissioners awarded a standard construction agreement for the construction of the Union Hill Road over Canton Creek Bridge Replacement Project to Georgia Bridge and Concrete, LLC, which according to the county was the low bidder. Construction is expected to begin within a month, and the estimated completion time is six months, according to Cherokee County spokesperson Erika Neldner. Also for the bridge replacement project, the board also unanimously approved an amendment to an agreement with Heath and Lineback Engineers, Inc. to provide construction inspection services during construction for $28,882.
