Cleveland County backs OTA’s $8B ACCESS plan despite protests

NORMAN — The Cleveland County Board of Commissioners on Monday unanimously approved a partnership resolution with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority in front of a crowd of close to 100 discontented residents.
The resolution formalizes a cooperative agreement with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority to build frontage roads and additional access points as part of the agency’s more than $8 billion ACCESS Oklahoma plan.
It’s OTA’s third attempt at an agreement, after Norman City Council voted to table a partnership with the agency.
Dave Moore was among the Cleveland County residents who attended the meeting to tell the commissioners they want the latest resolution tabled.
