A $13.8 million bridge replacement project on US-412 over the Verdigris River is scheduled to begin Tuesday.
“The current bridge is classified as functionally obsolete and doesn’t meet current traffic safety standards,” Oklahoma Department of Transportation Public Information Officer T.J. Gerlach said. “The new bridge will be wide enough to include a shoulder, just as the eastbound bridge does currently.”
Gerlach said this is a this is a “pretty straight-forward project since the bridge is being replaced” and should be completed in late 2023.
“Traffic will be one lane each way for about two miles,” Gerlach said. “There may be some congestion at peak travel times, but we don’t anticipate too much impact to traffic. Once completed, the new bridge will be safer overall for drivers, especially with the added width and shoulder.”
