The stretch of Flint Road between Muskogee Avenue and South 4160 Road reopened Aug. 27.
The 1.7-mile road segment closed May 14.
Rogers County spokesperson Diana Dickinson said Flint Road was in need of reconstruction to accommodate a future increase in traffic.
District 3 Commissioner Ron Burrows said in 2022 that over the next several years, traffic is expected to triple on Flint Road from State Highway 88 to the Will Rogers Turnpike.
The road has new asphalt and fresh yellow stripes, and a small section has pipes instead of ditches along the shoulders.
Rogers County leaned on county workers to complete the segment, which Dickinson said saved money the county would have otherwise spent on a contractor. She said all the county had to spent was $145,320 for asphalt from Pryor Asphalt. View the full article: ClaremoreProgress.com
