Funding for more than 300 new highway and infrastructure projects, including completion of the Interstate 240 and Interstate 35 junction in south Oklahoma City, was added to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s eight-year plan on Monday.

Thanks to an influx of federal grants and additional state funding, transportation officials say they can commit an additional $2 billion into the state’s highway infrastructure as it plans to address 1,600 highway and safety projects over the next eight years, bringing total impact to $8 billion by 2030.

Transportation commissioners on Monday also approved for $484 million in preventive maintenance through the Asset Preservation Plan for 2022 to 2025. The plan covers 349 projects that will rehabilitate 168 highway bridges and repave about 1,200 miles of roadway.
