The transportation panel in the U.S. House of Representatives will convene April 14 to give members of the chamber a venue to seek support for certain infrastructure projects. Input from this hearing, referred to on Capitol Hill as “Members’ Day,” is meant to help guide the consideration of President Joe Biden’s $2.25 trillion infrastructure plan, as well as a multiyear highway policy measure. Democratic leaders in the House signaled the potential for considering several infrastructure policy measures as early as May. The country’s main highway policy law, called the FAST Act, was enacted in 2015 and its authorization expires in September. Transportation policymakers have affirmed their commitment to updating the law prior to its expiration.
