April 12, 2024
Southbound I-35 on- and off-ramps will be closed, and southbound I-35 will be intermittently narrowed to one lane between SH-53 (mm 42) in Springer and Oswalt Rd. (mm 21) near Overbrook from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and continuing daily through Thursday as part of a wrong-way detection system installation project.
Crews will work in segments and only have one on- and off-ramp closed at a time, using the following schedule:
Monday 4/15: Southbound I-35 at SH-53 (mm 42) near Springer and SH-142 (mm 33) near Ardmore
Tuesday 4/16: Southbound I-35 at Brooks Rd. (mm 40) near Springer and 12th Ave NW (mm 32) near Ardmore

Thursday 4/18: Southbound I-35 at US-70 (mm 29) near Ardmore and Oswalt Rd. (mm 21) near Overbrook
Drivers should use extra caution in these areas and expect delays during work.
The project will install wrong-way detection systems along the southern I-35 corridor between Cleveland County and the Oklahoma-Texas state line and is scheduled to be completed in late fall 2024. This project marks the fourth Oklahoma corridor to have wrong-way detection systems installed. Eastern I-40 was completed in 2022, northern I-35 was completed in 2023 and western I-40 is scheduled to be completed in 2024.
The more than $4 million project was awarded by the Transportation Commission to Action Safety Supply Co., LLC. in Nov. 2023.
