TULSA, Okla. — The project to widen South Yale Avenue between East 81st Street and East 91st Street to six lanes is complete after several years of construction.
A ribbon cutting celebration was held Monday morning with Mayor G.T. Bynum and District 8 City Councilor Phil Lakin.
The city said the completion of this project marks a historic moment for Tulsa and one of its' busiest streets.
"At the completion of the largest road project in Tulsa's history, it's amazing to see how Yale Avenue has been transformed from a risky, curvy, two-lane road to a much safer six-lane road with sidewalks and landscaping," Mayor G.T. Bynum said. "I’m happy to see all six lanes open, and I want to thank the citizens of Tulsa for their support and patience through the construction of our new Yale Avenue.”
