Drivers on the Turner Turnpike will soon pay $5.40 with a PikePass and $10.50 with PlatePay to travel between Oklahoma City and Tulsa as tolls go up throughout Oklahoma.
The toll increases, including additional 6% increases every two years starting in 2027, were approved by the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority on Tuesday and will result in drivers of large vehicles paying more than $100 for a round trip on the turnpike in 2031.
The Turner Turnpike, the state’s oldest toll road, opened in 1953 when state leaders promised to make the corridor free after paying off its original bond debt. Instead, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority has used the Turner and other turnpikes to “cross-pledge” collateral for even bond debt for continued expansion of the network.
