NORMAN, Okla. — State officials said the new turnpike projects through Cleveland County will be built, despite concerns from residents.
The City of Norman originally wrote out a list of amenities for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority to help with as they bring turnpikes to the area. Those demands included things like adding wetlands, frontage roads and widening roads.
But now the city threw out that list and said they don’t want a partnership with OTA at all.
“We’re out of the picture,” said Larry Heikkila, mayor of Norman.
Heikkila said the Norman City Council couldn’t come to an agreement with a list of amenities.
