Oklahoma Department of Transportation Press Release
April 12, 2024
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is assessing its community engagement efforts and wants to hear from people across the state about their experiences. The input will be used to improve ODOT’s community engagement efforts. The public is encouraged to respond to the survey by April 30, 2024.
The department recognizes that public involvement is essential in planning, programming, construction and maintenance of Oklahoma’s transportation system. ODOT encourages the involvement of all residents, employers, businesses, community-based organizations and other interested stakeholders to inform the agency’s decisions.
In August 2023, the department began a comprehensive effort to evaluate its community engagement processes. Community engagement is a broad term that includes:
listening to public input regarding transportation and the community’s needs
responding to citizens’ concerns
communicating in an easy-to-understand manner
collaborating with communities to solve transportation problems
keeping the public informed
answering questions in a timely manner
providing ample opportunities for residents to give input on transportation issues that affect them
“Providing exceptional customer service is a guiding principle of ODOT, and having an honest assessment of how we’re performing is critical for helping us better engage with communities going forward,” said ODOT Deputy Director Dawn Sullivan.
The five-minute survey is open through April 30 at https://survey.sogolytics.com/r/ODOT. Survey responses will remain anonymous, and respondents are encouraged to be straightforward and honest in their comments.
The survey is available in English and Spanish and other languages can be accommodated upon request. To request the survey in another language, contact Katrina Fire, ODOT compliance manager, at Katrina.Fire@ODOT.ok.gov or 405-318-1428.
