OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) has officially submitted its Fair Miles Oklahoma pilot program report to the Oklahoma Legislature.
According to a news release, Fair Miles Oklahoma, a research program designed to explore options for funding future transportation infrastructure needs, recently concluded after 445 Oklahomans drove and logged more than 1 million miles.
ODOT and the Oklahoma Legislature have both said that the state needs to explore alternatives as increasing fuel efficiency decreases available fuel tax funds. Results from the Fair Miles project will provide data to assist state lawmakers as they decide how to fund future maintenance and improvements of roads and bridges.
