Oklahoma City has rolled out plans to update how it will better meet needs of cyclists and pedestrians in coming years, an initiative known as bikewalkokc that could yield not only safety benefits for people but also economic ones for their neighborhoods. The program, originally adopted in 2018, already has resulted in an expansion of sidewalks, bike lanes and trails in the city. Now, Oklahoma City residents have been asked to share thoughts on what’s been accomplished so far and how they’d like to see things take shape in the future. Transportation Program Planner Justin Henry said that as Oklahoma City grows, it becomes more important for the plan to evolve and guide long-range planning for cycling routes and sidewalks along with other transportation infrastructure.
