Oklahoma County commissioners voted Monday to apply for more than $280,000 in grant funding for sidewalk, street and drainage projects. The funding would come from the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments as part of the state's Rural Economic Action Plan grants. These grants provide "funding for small, rural communities with populations under 6,999," according to the association. Grants require no match and can fund projects such as road and street construction or repair, drainage projects, improvements in rural water quality, solid waste disposal or treatment, and more. According to the association, "Oklahoma lawmakers allocated $30 million" to the statewide program during the 2022 legislative session. The association will dole out "an unprecedented $2.7 million to communities in Canadian, Cleveland, Logan and Oklahoma counties."
