The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority is cleaning up its list of which toll roads are needed in the state.
The OTA held a special meeting Tuesday, discussing its plans for the future. The agency made a list of 35 turnpikes that Oklahomans need with some already being built and others in the works.
But nothing will happen with the list, which shows where new turnpikes should be built and where they are not necessary, until the state Legislature is on board.
"This review was an internal review just to see what’s been built, what’s already redundant, what would be redundant that maybe ODOT has constructed, and is there a need," Joe Echelle, the executive director of the OTA, said.
