Transportation officials made some speed zone changes on U.S. Interstate 35 in McClain County during their meeting on Monday in Oklahoma City. Drivers using these areas are asked to note the zoning changes. The changes, approved by the Oklahoma Transportation Commission, are based on engineering studies performed by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the department’s recommendations. Affected cities include Newcastle, Goldsby, Norman, Moore and Oklahoma City. A speed of 70 mph was recommended for a point .75 miles south of the I-35 and State Highway 74 junction, extending northerly 2.20 miles to a point 1.25 miles south of the McClain and Cleveland County line. This area, extending 2.20 miles, is presently not zoned but will be posted at 70 mph.
