Throwback Tulsa: Widening of I-44 set on this day in 2007

16 years ago today, transportation officials set the widening of Interstate 44 in Tulsa project. The roughly $330 million improvement between Yale Avenue and Riverside Drive redesigned Oklahoma's oldest section of interstate highway, said Gary Ridley, Oklahoma Department of Transportation director. ODOT Commissioner Guy Berry, who represents the Tulsa area, said the widening project will be an economic boon and change the city's image.
