Four major stormwater and transportation projects that the city of Joplin intended to work on in 2025 or later are to be moved up to meet schedules for the state highway department’s renovation of Seventh Street and grant funding deadlines.
The projects, discussed early this year with residents who served on a capital improvements sales tax committee, will largely involve repairs to flood detention along downtown’s Old Willow Branch flood zone and widening of West 20th Street. There also will be repairs to city-owned sidewalks along Seventh Street and a realignment of the city’s intersection at Seventh Street and Illinois Avenue.
