OKLAHOMA CITY - Getting to and from Tulsa may be harder than normal this weekend because roadwork on the Turner Turnpike is ramping up and closing down the road for hours.
Crews are putting up bridge beams this weekend, possibly causing headaches to motorists wanting to use the Turner Turnpike.
"That bridge was built in 1953 when the Turner Turnpike was built," Lisa Shearer-Salim, a spokesperson with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, said. "So, it was an original bridge to the system. It has met its life span at 71 years."
The bridge near Stroud is now set to be replaced as part of the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority's Access Oklahoma Plan.
